Simplification…….if you put in non Christian effects in like 1/3 of Europe being killed by the plague, the destruction of Rome by the Ostrogoths, Viking raids on Britain,….the writing would be all itty bitty and no one would read it.

Religion can be bad. Science can be bad.
If you can make a statement that science is good “it flies us to the moon” you can make a statement that science is bad “if flies rockets into buildings”.
The point here is…. both things, at their extreme can be very bad. Morality motivates humans, either in the context of science, or the context of religion, to do good or bad.
